About Marie Stycos:
Retired Nurse, End of Life Educator, Death Doula, Energy Worker, Ceremonialist
I have a passion for assisting people to mark, celebrate and move through life events.
From my personal, nursing, and spiritual journeys, I have learned the importance of acknowledging, moving through, integrating life's changes.
Because of my years as a nurse, I am very much aware of what patients and families can experience when one’s physical being is failing.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
I have learned that talking about death does not kill me, rather, embracing the reality of mortality has helped me live more fully. At Death Cafes I see people open to this possibility and become more comfortable talking about death as well as life.
What would you like your legacy to be?
That some of the dying would have the peaceful death at home that they desire and that their loved ones would have the knowledge and support to help this happen with as little stress as possible.
Thoughts for sharing:
From our very first breath we are dying. What is important is how we lived. Even as one is dying, one is living through the process and deserves to have support for thier process.
