About Kathy McLoughlin:

Hi, I am Kathy.  I have facilitated a few Cafe Conversations in Ireland and I am passionate about a public health approach to palliative care.

Thoughts for sharing:

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.

I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.

I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.

I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.

I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.

I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.

I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.

They say it takes a minute to find a special person. An hour to appreciate them. A day to love them. And an entire life to forget them.

Turning fear of death into life

I have been running Death Cafes in Ireland for the last couple of years - usually as part of education programmes / conferences.  Last Autumn, I held an event as part of the Hospice Friendly Acute Hospitals Network.  As part of the process, participants wrote down their fears about death and dying and buried those they wanted to lose.  They buried them in a pot and planted a spring bulb.  I received an email from a participant a few weeks ago, who had nurtured her fears and new life is now looking at a beautiful daffodil on her window...very inspiring :)
