About Death Cafe Humboldt, Dr. Gina Belton Ph.D.:
Dr. Gina Belton is the founder and primary Facilitator for Death Cafe Humboldt. Gina Belton PhD is an Associate Professor in the Mind Body Medicine Program at Saybrook University where she directs the Contemplative End of Life specialization.
In her private practice, Dr. Belton serves those desiring to deepen their capacities for journeying through the complexities of life threatening illness, aging, grief and loss.
Death Cafe, Humboldt meets intermittantly at the Mckinleyville Senior Resource Center and unfolds in the spirit of play, story, safety, courage and compassion.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
"Animae Mundi Colendae Gratia" translates to "for the sake of tending to the soul in and of the world". My work as a spiritual midwife to the dying time meets this intention by tending to the soul of community along the continuum of care with end of life relationships.
Valuing the gifts arising from collective wisdom, I am drawn to the Death Cafe as a group and community process for nurturing our capacity for "cultivating an ethic of radical hospitality" through individual and collective contemplative inquiry into the endless topics of our mortality.
