About Cynthia Sumner:
I'm a life coach interested in looking at life through the lens of death and helping people to live a life without regret. I've spent the last 9 months in what I fondly call, "death school", while care taking for my terminally ill mother, and learning an immense amount about life in the process. I'm co-leading an workshop called "Taking Death Out of the Closet" which I hope will become the first of a series of explorative classes about this tabo topic.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
A desire to understand why we've become so disconnected this natural process and find allies in changing how we view death.
What would you like your legacy to be?
I want my leagacy to be that I influence or changed the way people die, that we all learn how to have a good death and find peace upon leaving this world.
In my more radical moments, I want to invent a new model to replace the current one in Skilled Nursing that turns people into objects and leaves far too many to suffer alone.
Thoughts for sharing:
"One regret, dear world,
That I am determined not to have
When I am lying on my deathbed
Is that
I did not kiss you enough. ~ Hafiz

I mean, every BODY does it.
Somewhere, once upon a time in our cultural training, the subject of death became ...
