About Nancy Gershman:

NANCY GERSHMAN, LMSW is a psychotherapist and the developer of Dreamscaping, an imaginal and photo-based approach to treating grief and loss, supported by the way memories get encoded in the brain.  Dreamscaping uses resourcing, focusing on felt sense, re-scripting and mental simulations to shift the focus from "how are you coping?" to "if we make this new memory, you'd like it to give you a dose of what right now?"

What brings you to Death Cafe?

I'm especially interested in the Afterworld: not just its existence but the infrastructure. What a comfort it would be to be reunited with loved ones and suddenly have access to dead statesman and celebrities, albeit in bodies or no form at all! And though I have yet to experience a near death or after-death communication, I continue to hold out hope for signs.

What would you like your legacy to be?

A School of Prescriptive Art, where a wide range of clinicians work playfully with bereaved clients to activate their curiosity so that they might learn something new about the deceased that vastly improves their well-being.

Thoughts for sharing:

Your own emotional truth of the past will always top any factual account of a memory, witnessed or felt by others.
