About this Death Cafe

When first I read Elizabeth Kubler Ross’s book On Death and Dying many years ago,  I knew I had found a home for my heart’s yearning to comfort and serve those who are dying.  Soon thereafter I became a hospice volunteer and then a hospice nurse. Once the dialogue began with people on death and the acceptance of its reality, the whole experience changed for them from fear and suffering to comfort, ease, and peace.  

I believe the concept of Death Cafe offers a wonderful venue to explore death and its meaning and reality in our lives.  Socrates once said that “death may be the greatest of all human blessings.”  So let the dialogue begin that we may live our lives with awareness to impermanence.
