About this Death Cafe

Hello Death Positive People!

**Surprise! As of today (!) a new location has been secured! Important details are below, please read. For those who may be unaware, the restaurant we have been meeting at since October had to relocate and their new space cannot suitably accommodate a group such as ours. I have conducted an exhaustive search so, therefore, am happy to share this news! Thankfully, right on schedule, WE MEET NEXT WEDNESDAY APRIL 10th!**

DEATH CAFÉ - HILLSBOROUGH

APRIL 10, 2019   6:00 – 8:00PM

903 ENO STREET (zip 27278)

“FELLOWSHIP HALL” -- A SEPARATE BUILDING ON THE LEFT SIDE OF ENO UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

Street parking, with lights.

Pastor Rich Greenway has generously offered this sweet space to us and fully supports our community meeting’s purpose. There’s even a community garden right in front. If you have a disinclination for being inside churches, this is actually a great little house next door. Anne Weston, who referred me to Rich, and I toured it today to our great delight. It has a full kitchen, clean bathroom, tables & chairs, and the house is “all ours” that evening! Ahhh, quiet! You are correct in thinking, “it’s not a restaurant, so I’ll bring my own dinner!”

But wait! There’s more! This specific DC-H on 4/10 will enjoy a catered dinner (!) generously provided by the Green Burial Project (www.greenburialproject.org)! As you may well imagine, we need a head count to ensure there will be enough food. PLEASE email your RSVP to me no later than 9pm next Tuesday, April 9 if you plan to come and enjoy the catered meal (please include how many people will accompany you). Alternatively, you may bring your own supper. Drinks will also be provided. Wow! What a way to begin appreciating our new location!

If you are on Facebook, please “like” the Death Café-Hillsborough page and stay updated at: https://www.facebook.com/Death-Cafe-Hillsborough-1042268085963753/?modal=admin_todo_tour

The updated DC-Hillsborough listing will soon be on www.deathcafe.com per usual.

Let’s look forward to talking about death next WEDNESDAY evening, APRIL 10, for Death Café-Hillsborough!!! Remember: at our new location! (MAYBE we can nickname it “Fellow Death Hall” ?)

See you there, Deathlings!

About Neidra L. Clark

Neidra Clark is an End Of Life Doula (EOLD) and an advocate for conscious dying. When she was 28 years old, her husband received a stage IV cancer diagnosis. That set of profound experiences provided firsthand knowledge which shaped her future and helped her discover a passion for helping people. Since 1996, Neidra has offered several natural healing modalities and means of self-empowerment for people desiring to better their health. She has served her communities by providing complimentary health research reports upon request, and continues to support others by volunteering services or offering them at reduced rates. Having been by the bedside of many dying individuals (including her own near-death experience at age 15), whether family, friend, or animal companion, Neidra feels she has what she considers a healthy perspective of death. It became clear that not everyone shares this outlook, or even talks much about death, so she sought means for people to have permission to express themselves. Enter: “Death Café.” Now as an End Of Life Doula, she supports the dying and their families through legacy creation, vigil planning, funeral preparations including at-home funerals (she is also an Ordained Celebrant), caregiver support, and early grief work. Resulting from her professional training, experiences with death and the dying, and attending area Death Cafés for well over a year, Neidra believes that a Death Café is the perfect safe space to invite her small-town community to come participate in enlightening conversations about death that inevitably lead many people to live their lives more fully.
