About this Death Cafe

Hannah has previously facilitated Death Cafes and has seen the positive place that they provide for people who want to talk about death. 'Milk & Honey' is a perfect veue for Death Cafe - it is a warm, calm and uplifting place, and we're looking forward to hosting the event here! There will be hot drinks and cakes - because we believe everything's better over a brew....

About Hannah Skinner

Hannah has experienced a number of bereavements in her own life, including the death of her 21 year old brother. Her own experiences, as well as walking alongside close friends as they've been bereaved, have made Hannah very aware of the importance of safe spaces to be open about death and the realities of loss.

Hannah works as part of the Chaplaincy team at St Peter's House, based in the heart of the Manchester Universities. Through conversations with students and the wider community, alongside the continuing experience of negotiating the often unpredictable landscape of grief - the team are increasingly aware of the need for space to share stories and experiences, for honest discussion, and for open-minded and compassionate listening.

Through hosting a Death Cafe in Milk & Honey - a non-profit cafe run by St Peter's House, the team hope that people will find companionship, mutual support and comfort as we discuss the painful but unavoidable realities of life -  and what happens when it ends.

St Peter's House is a registered charity located in the middle of the University area of Manchester, and offer an inclusive and welcoming space to people of all faiths and none. The Death Cafe  at St Peter's House will have no religious imput, beyond what those coming may choose to share. Everyone is welcome.
