I used to work in Western medicine, now volunteer with Agrace, and am a medium. Death, dying, thin times, bardo states have been pretty consistent parts of my life though I've lacked people to speak with about these stories. It helped me realize, along with a couple profound grief cycles, we really make ourselves unwell in this culture by not speaking easily and regularly about death, dying, and grief.
