About this Death Cafe
Hi! I'm Karen, and I have started hosting Death Cafes due to my own need to understand our role in death and culture, especially in the western world and even more so, especially how we handle this subject in the United States. The death of my father brought questions about what else I could have known and done regarding his care, and since that time, I've been focusing on helping others talk about what they need to in reference to death and dying.
About Karen Pielke
Karen Pielke is a burgeoning death midwife that specializes in the before, during and after care of the dying individual and/or the family and loved ones of the dying. Karen supports home death care, home funerals, natural burial and has been a support for those that want to have those options available. In this role, she also provides grief support information, including preliminary grief.
