About this Death Cafe

This forthcoming death cafe will be the fourth that I've hosted. Per the guidelines of death cafe, there are no motives or objectives or themes; just compassionate and thoughtful and yes, even funny, conversations about the end of life. I have been consistently blown away by the astute observations and deep insight that our participants have brought to the table (not to mention the delicious desserts!). One thing that I adore about our particular gathering, is the spectrum of different ages, experiences, and identities present. It is such a gift to be part of this brilliant group!
In this coming meet up, I will be speaking a little about my current training as a hospice volunteer and bringing some thoughts from that, but as always the evening will be a free flowing conversation with no agenda!

I am a 36 year old farmer. massage therapist, mother to a beautifully wild boy, and wife to a generous and kind chef (who graciously opens his bistro to us Death Cafe-ers). I was moved to start facilitating a death cafe in the wake of my mom's death, noting the need and desire for a safe place to have an open and sincere conversation about death and dying.
