About this Death Cafe
I am the first person to run a Death Cafe group in Fife and so far I have been hosting these cafes in Kirkcaldy, Fife since November 2017. This will be our 5th Death Cafe.
I have chosen to run one on this week to coincide with 'Dying Matter's Event Week to help encourage people to talk about death and all that it may entail.
I have found our Death Cafe groups to be quite light hearted. Yes, there have been one or two more sombre moments, but on the whole, it is where people feel safe to express themselves and their experiences and we often have a good laugh. Not everything about Death is sad. Yes ofcourse it is for those going through it at the time, but there is also humour in the stories to be told.
I hope others will feel more accepting of opening up about death and awareness here in Fife. Education and awareness is a wonderful thing and it does make the process that little easier to cope with if/when faced with the loss of a loved one.
