I have recently retired from working in palliative care and am now a self employed gardener! I am a trained doula for the dying and have facillitated several Death Cafes in Newcastle since 2012. The atmosphere at these events, and the feedback received, confirm my belief that a space to discuss death and dying is really valued, and that the conversations are rich and varied. I was a cafe proprietor in a past life, so hosting Death Cafes brings together my love of tea and cakes and my passion for having and sharing discussions about death and dying.

I'm interested in Death Cafes from both a professional point of view as a mental health worker and on a personal level for its impact on creativity and spirituality. Thinking about death in an everyday way like at death cafe adds a richness and a poignancy to life.
