About this Death Cafe
I am running a Death Cafe because I feel it's important to have a conversation about death and dying in a safe, non judgemental and open environmnent. It increases our comfortability around death and connects us as a community with something we all have in common.
About Sarah VanReenen
My name is Sarah VanReenen and I have been trained as an End of Life Doula at the Institute of Traditional Medicine in Toronto, Ontario. I have been working off and on as a Health Care Aide/PSW for the last 15 yrs in Long Term Care Homes, Retirement Homes and Home Care.
I have a passion to see those who are at the end of their lives and their families feel like they have choices, support and help them envision how they see their last days through legacy. I feel it’s important to talk about our fears, desires for our loved ones and create a space that brings us comfort and healing in our last days and moments.
As an End of Life Doula I am lovingly providing support to those who are on the dying journey and their families before, during and after death occurs.
I am also a wife and mother of four beautiful kids living in the country side of Northern Ontario. I enjoy skiiing, snowshoeing and the great outdoors.
