About Green-Wood Cemetery
Like other early rural cemeteries, Green-Wood was founded in 1832, back when the churchyards of Manhattan were becoming overcrowded. Come early to explore the grounds and soak up the glories of nature. Tropical parrots live in the gate turrets. It's a gorgeous spot.
