About this Death Cafe
Death is a topic we mostly don’t talk about - making it difficult to consider our own mortality and to support friends, and loved ones facing life threatening illness.
Most of us of us have experiences, stories, queries around dying and death that we don’t express as it’s not usual in our culture to do so.. Fortunately, people are beginning to gather to speak openly about dying and death; sharing their thoughts and experiences, such as stories of supporting loved ones through dying, ponderings about one’s own death, etc.
Death cafe is an opportunity for such a conversation whilst enjoying good cake and coffee.
Men and women of all ages come to death cafe, young people, older people and the baby boomers who stood up for social change in the past; as many experience the loss of their parents, they are pondering dying and how they might approach the finality of their own lives aligned to their values and beliefs.
These casual cafe conversations enable people to become more at ease, open, aware and to connect with others around dying and death
