About this Death Cafe
I am running this Death Cafe with End of Life Conversations in mind; it is the fifth I have run and gets more interesting each time! I prefer to keep it to under 12 people so everyone feels save to share. I think some people just come for the Chai and cake and there are always some interesting books on Death & Dying to look at, along with the wonderful open sharing and discussions that are the key to this no-agenda Death Cafe.
About Melissa Halliday (me)
Melissa Halliday the host and facilitator is a Human Being, Dementia & Elder Care Volunteer, funeral celebrant, writer, yoga teacher and community choir singer with qualifications in Arts/Law, Yoga Teaching and Remedial Massage.
She believes that none of these degrees and diplomas matter in the scheme of things as death, dying and death literacy only require being human, having an open heart and mind and a desire to live life more fully in the context of our own mortality, whatever that means to us.
She has worked in the legal field as a solicitor, has been a wedding, same sex and funeral celebrant and Trainer for over ten years. She has an 88 year old father who is hard to pin down about this stuff and she enjoys facilitating end of life conversations that include death as a part of life. She is starting to host an ongoing and free Death Literacy Book Club you are welcome to attend.
