About this Death Cafe
I'm running a Death Cafe having had a great experience at one during Dying Matters Death awareness week earlier in the year. It is also to coincide with a local art installation I have this month. This is centred around Memento Mori - remember that you too will die.
The Mood Food Cafe is generously allowing us to use their back room Free of charge. Please do avail yourselves of their delicious cakes, teas, coffees and other comestibles.
About Rosalind Polley
As a scientist and altruist I am very aware of Mankind's wish to defeat all causes of premature death and to prolong our lives as much as possible. However in so doing we disrupt the homeostasis of our planet. I think actively engaging with our deaths can enable us to make the most of our finite lives and take away some of the fear and uncertainty surrounding their ends.
Learning from friends about their different faiths and how these address death gives me strength. As does making art to remember those I have lost and explore my own mortality.
