About this Death Cafe

I am running this Death Cafe to provide a safe, comfortable and intimate place in inner west Sydney to speak freely on death, life and end of life matters over a cuppa and cake.

There will be no set agenda but time for everyone to speak on what ever is of concern or interest to them related to death, dying and living fully.

I make a mean chai!

About Melissa Halliday (me)

Melissa Halliday the host and facilitator is a Palliative Care Volunteer, funeral celebrant, writer, yoga teacher and community choir singer with qualifications in Arts/Law, Yoga Teaching and Remedial Massage.

 

She believes that none of these degrees and diplomas matter in the scheme of things as death and death literacy requires no qualification other than being human, an open heart and mind and a desire to live life more fully in the context of our own mortality, whatever that means to us.

 

She has worked in the legal field as a solicitor, has been a wedding, same sex and funeral celebrant and Trainer for over ten years. She has an 87 year old father who is writing his own Eulogy and she delights in facilitating end of life conversations that normalise death as a part of life.
