About this Death Cafe

This "pop-up" Death Cafe Limerick event is part of the Compassionate Cities International Summit taking place on October 7, 2016 at the Castletroy Park Hotel in Limerick, Ireland: This international summit explores how cities and towns can implement the new Compassionate Cities Charter to become recognised as communities that place civic society at the heart of illness, dying, death and bereavement.

About Jennifer Moran Stritch & Sinead Dinneen

Jennifer Moran Stritch is the director of the Loss and Grief Research Group, a part of the Social Sciences ConneXions research collective at Limerick Institute of Technology.  With a background in social care and social work, she lectures in the Department of Applied Social Sciences at LIT.  Jennifer’s international practice in both Ireland and the USA makes her a frequent keynote speaker and workshop facilitator on aspects of death education, grieving, and experiences of loss, resilience and growth across the human lifespan.  As one of the founding hosts of Death Café Limerick, Jennifer has facilitated several Death Cafes in the greater Limerick area since November 2015 and hopes to expand Death Café events across Ireland.

Sinead Dinneen is a visual artist and has been making art since the 1990’s.  In 2013 Sinead was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. Sinead created a new body of work titled “Whisper” which is directly responds to her illness. Sinead is also a member of Ormston House and Limerick Printmakers Galley and Studio. Along with Jennifer Moran Stritch and Dr. Tracy Fahey, Sinead is one of the founding organisers and hosts of Death Cafe Limerick events and recently facilitated the successful "Kicking the Bucket" experiential art course in Limerick in May 2016.
