About this Death Cafe
A Death Café offers a creative way to explore how death can inform and inspire the way we live. As a rapidly growing movement, you will find a Death Café happening somewhere in the world almost every single week
At Death Café Saskatoon, we believe that talking about death only enhances our current state of being. The purpose of Death Café is to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives. This will be an opportunity to join other members of the community and immerse yourself in what we know will be a fulfilling evening filled with thought provoking conversation.
Your hosts, Lisa Greig & Karla Combres will be creating a comfort in a conversation that has been long avoided. We invite you to join us for tea, coffee, sweets and of course, conversation. Please take a look at the photos from the innaugaural Death Cafe in Saskatoon in 2014.

Lisa Greig | Social Worker | Owner of Silver Linings Events
As a social worker, I have experience in both acute care settings as well as in the community as a Bereavement Counsellor. I am extremely passionate about the field of death, dying and bereavement. Death, is life’s one certainty. It is painful. It is dynamic. It is filled with sorrow but also opportunities for growth. As a social worker, I am rooted in the practice of leaning into the discomforts; the topic of death is one of those discomforts. It is my hope that the Death Cafe will provide an opportunity within the community to have an open, honest discussion that will quickly evolve into a place of comfort, awarenessand growth towards a culture that is no longer death-avoidant.

My curious nature has led me to live, work, study and travel in several countries. As an experienced intercultural communicator and facilitator, I am passionate about building community through finding common ground. And let's face it, our shared human experience boils down to being born, living and dying. I am fascinated by the growing movement to bring death out of the shadows, thereby engaging more fully in life. I am a hospice volunteer and am looking forward to exploring with others matters of death and dying as a window to life and living.
