About this Death Cafe

I've often wondered why death, something that is such a natural and inevitable part of life, remains a subject so many of us find difficult to talk about.

I'm passionate about creating spaces where people can have honest, meaningful conversations, explore different perspectives and ask questions without feeling they need to have all the answers.

My hope is that Death Cafe Perth – South of the River will bring together people from all walks of life, regardless of their backgrounds, beliefs or experiences, to talk openly about life, death, dying and everything in between.

We'll gather around a café table over coffee and cake, allowing the conversation to unfold naturally. There'll be no presentations, no set agenda and no expectation to share anything you're uncomfortable with. You're equally welcome to speak, listen, ask questions or simply be curious.

This is not a grief counselling or bereavement support group, nor is it a space for promoting any particular spiritual or religious beliefs. It's simply an opportunity to come together as human beings and explore a subject that connects us all.

Attendance is free, with participants purchasing their own refreshments from the café.

Spaces are limited to keep the gathering small and conversational, so please RSVP to reserve your place.

I look forward to meeting you and sharing some meaningful conversations!

About Tamara Yousry

Tamara is a mother, educator, writer and lifelong learner with a background in intercultural communication and a deep interest in psychology, spirituality and the human experience. She is also the founder of ALIGNED — Sacred Arts, where she explores spirituality, personal growth and the human experience through a range of reflective practices.

Having lived and worked across different countries and cultures, she has long been fascinated by the ways people make meaning of life, loss and the unknown.

Her growing interest in death, dying and end-of-life companionship has led her to explore death doula training, which she will be undertaking later this year. This interest has also inspired her to create opportunities for open, honest conversations about a subject that touches us all.

Through Death Cafe Perth – South of the River, Tamara hopes to bring people together in a welcoming, informal space where curiosity is encouraged, different perspectives are respected, and nobody needs to have all the answers.
