About this Death Cafe
The Death Cafe is a simple concept. Bring people together to discuss one of the great universal truths: death. With thousands of chapters in over 25 countries around the world, Death Cafes are informal gatherings that aim to “increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their lives.” There is no set agenda, but small group conversations might include thoughts on end-of-life decisions and choices, personal experience you have had dealing with death and grief. One of the main things you will find at a Death Cafe gathering is Tea (or other beverage) and Cake (or similar food items) to share to create a comfortable atmosphere. This small rural library offers a private location where those who attend can feel free to speak with no judgement.
About Laurel Paulson-Pierce
I HAVE BEEN HOSTING DEATH CAFE DISCUSSION GROUPS FOR OVER 10 YEARS. I WAS A FIRE FIGHTER FOR NEARLY 30 YEARS AND HAVE SEEN DEATH AND BIRTH AND REALIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING ABLE TO DISCUSS DEATH, GRIEF AND OTHER TOPICS THAT ARE OFTEN NOT OPEN FOR PUBLIC DISCUSSION, BUT THAT ARE EXPERIENCED BY EVERYONE IN THEIR LIFE. I HAVE SEVERAL BOOKS THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST FOR FOLKS TO "CHECK OUT" FROM MY PERSONAL LIBRARY TO EXPLORE THESE TOPICS.
