About this Death Cafe
What is a Death Café?
A Death Café is a free, informal gathering where people come together over tea and cake to talk openly and honestly about death, dying, grief, and life’s biggest questions. It is not a support group, counselling session, or presentation. There is no agenda, and no one will try to lead participants toward any particular belief or conclusion. The conversation is guided by the group itself in a warm, respectful, and confidential space.
Why we’re hosting this
Many people feel unprepared or isolated when it comes to talking about death. These gatherings create a safe place for honest conversation, reduce fear and stigma, and help people live more fully. Everyone is welcome — whether you are grieving, supporting someone who is dying, curious, or simply ready to explore these topics.
What to expect
- Free to attend
- Tea, coffee, and treats provided
- Informal, drop-in style conversation
- No pressure to speak — listening is just as valuable
- Duration: approximately 1.5 hours

Strathmore Library, Program Room
Who should come
Anyone interested in talking (or listening) about death, dying, grief, loss, or what it means to live well. All ages and backgrounds are welcome.
Donations
This Death Café is free to attend. If you feel moved to contribute toward the cost of the room, a small donation is welcome but never expected. A donation basket will be available at the back of the room.
About Meghan Williams
Meghan Williams is a Certified Life Coach and End-of-Life Doula based in Turner Valley, Alberta. Through her initiative Mind Full Of (created in honour of her late friend Tracey Nichols), she creates safe, welcoming spaces for honest conversations about life, death, and everything in between. Passionate about supporting people at life’s biggest thresholds, Meghan is honoured to bring Death Café to the Foothills community.
