About ML Steyn

Lisa Ludwig-Mackenzie is an end-of-life doula, Life, Loss & Legacy Specialist, and facilitator. She brings rich lived experience to this work, shaped by a series of personal losses—most importantly, the death of her wife, Lulu. Serving as Lulu’s final companion showed Lisa firsthand just how crucial support is for partners and caregivers walking this path. She loves facilitating because bringing people together in meaningful connection is at the heart of what she does.

Marie-Louise Steyn has been drawn to liminal spaces and life’s big transitions ever since stepping into the role of her dad’s deathwalker as a teenager, long before she knew the word for it. A lifelong lover of stories and a writer, her journey has come full circle—moving from her background as a birth doula to her work today as a death doula. She loves holding space at Death Cafes, creating a gentle environment where people can sip a warm drink, share real conversations, and reflect on what matters most.
