About this Death Cafe

What to Expect: This is an open, agenda-free conversation about death and dying. It is not a bereavement support group, but rather a space to share thoughts, fears, and curiosities with others. We follow the official Death Cafe principles: our gathering is non-profit, held in an accessible (virtual) space, and maintains a respectful, confidential atmosphere.

Technical Details: The link to our virtual meeting room will be sent to you upon registration. We recommend joining 5 minutes early to test your audio. Grab a warm drink and a comfortable seat—we look forward to seeing you there.

About Lisa Ludwig-Mackenzie and Marie-Louise Steyn

Lisa Ludwig-Mackenzie is a Moment Mentor, End-of-Life Doula, and Trauma Debriefer, and the founder of In the Moments Wellness. Driven by her personal journey through the loss of her partner and other significant life transitions, she felt a profound calling to support others navigating grief. Lisa holds space for honest, compassionate conversations around death, dying, and everything in between. Her work is grounded in deep empathy and the belief that by making space for these topics, we can find a deeper sense of connection and presence in our lives.

Marie-Louise Steyn is a qualified End-of-Life (EOL) Doula and Transition Guide, certified through The Wellness Specialist. Based in Betty’s Bay, she provides compassionate support in both English and Afrikaans, focusing on bringing death and dying back into the natural conversation of life. A published writer and founder of Sitara End-of-Life Doula Services, she specializes in "legacy work," helping individuals document their life stories through memoirs and life reviews while providing dedicated pet loss support.
