About this Death Cafe
Join us for an open, soulful conversation at the cosy and quirky Mr. Write coffee shop in Hermanus. Facilitated by Marie-Louise Steyn, a qualified End-of-Life Doula Companion and legacy specialist, and Adriaan van Zyl, a mindful life coach and PhD candidate, this gathering offers a safe space to explore mortality with heart and authenticity.

About Adriaan van Zyl & Marie-Louise Steyn
Adriaan van Zyl is a wellness professional and mindful life coach currently pursuing a PhD in Integral and Transpersonal Psychology. His work focuses on the power of vulnerability—helping people face the "shadow" parts of life, including trauma and shame, to restore authenticity and personal agency. At our Death Cafe, Adriaan brings a compassionate, grounded presence to help us navigate the parts of life (and death) we often feel the need to hide.
Marie-Louise Steyn is an end-of-life doula and legacy specialist with a background in both the beginning and end of life. As a published author and manuscript developer, she helps individuals navigate their final chapters by capturing their life stories through therapeutic writing and legacy work. With a degree in Comparative Religion, Marie-Louise brings a deep, non-judgmental respect for diverse spiritual needs to every conversation.
