About this Death Cafe
Welcome to a conversation about death and dying with a view to helping us make the most of our finite lives.
Western Maine Death Cafe offers the first in a monthly series of Death Cafes, starting Sunday, March 8th, 4pm to 5:15pm at the Deering Memorial Community Center, 39 Main St, South Paris, Maine.
Death Café is a free, no-judgment space where you are invited to enter into a group-directed end-of-life discussion. There is no agenda, theme or goal. No belief systems, products or actions are promoted. This is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counseling session. Snacks, coffee and tea will be provided.
Join Certified Death Doulas; Janet Willie, LMT/LPN and Lee Berry, RN and hospice volunteer, Kerry Read in exploring our human experiences, feelings, curiosities and contemplations about death and dying.
Founded by Jon Underwood and based on the work of Bernard Crettaz; Death Cafe was started in the United Kingdom in 2004 and brought to the US by Lizzy Miles. Death Cafe is a non-profit “social franchise” that has spread around the world and onto the internet, normalizing the conversation and increasing awareness of death to help us live our finite lives more fully. Seehttps://deathcafe.com for more information or to join an online cafe.
A hearty “Thank You” to the Paris Public Library for the use of the Deering Memorial Community Center for this event.
