About this Death Cafe

AIM: I am running this relaxed and safe Cafe with End of Life Conversations in mind; it is the 20th or so I have run and is always different! I think some people just come for the Chai and cake and there are always some interesting books on Death & Dying to look at, along with honest, wonderful open sharing and discussions that are the key to this no-agenda, up-to-you-whether-you-want-to-share Death Cafe.

About Melissa Halliday

Melissa Halliday the host and facilitator is a Human Being who is going to die just like you, End of Life Doula, Dementia & Palliative Care Volunteer, funeral celebrant and director, writer, yoga teacher and community choir singer with qualifications in Arts/Law, Yoga Teaching and Remedial Massage. 

Mel has been running Death Cafes for 10 years.

She believes that none of these degrees and diplomas matter in the scheme of things as death, dying and death literacy only require being human, having an open heart and mind and a desire to live life more fully in the context of our own mortality, whatever that means to us.

She has worked in the legal field as a solicitor on estate planning and wills, has been a wedding, same sex and funeral celebrant and trainer for over ten years. She has a 97 year old father who still drives a motorbike but is hard to pin down about this stuff and she enjoys facilitating end of life conversations that include death as a part of life.
