About this Death Cafe
I’m running a Death Café because pretending death doesn’t exist doesn’t make life happier — it just makes the conversations worse when it finally comes up. I believe talking openly about death, dying, and loss helps us live with more honesty, less fear, and a better sense of what actually matters. This isn’t about answers, beliefs, or fixing anything; it’s about making space for real conversation, shared curiosity, and the relief of not having to tiptoe around the inevitable. If we’re all going to die anyway, we might as well talk about it — kindly, openly, and without pretending we’re doing it wrong.
About Bobbie Nichols-Cook
Bobbie Jo is drawn to conversations that most of us are taught to avoid—especially those around death, dying, and grief. She believes that speaking openly about death doesn’t make life heavier, but more honest and intentional.
She is trained as a death doula through INELDA, and comes to Death Café not as an expert with answers, but as a thoughtful host committed to holding space with curiosity, compassion, and respect.
Her approach to Death Café is non-directive and non-judgmental. It is not therapy, teaching, or counseling—simply a shared conversation where people can speak freely, listen deeply, and explore what it means to live fully while knowing we will die.
She is guided by the words of Rumi:
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.”
