About this Death Cafe
I believe that in the veterinary profession we work constantly with death—both that of our patients and through supporting their families. During their university studies, students experience the death of loved ones, whether their own animals or family members. However, this topic is never discussed; it is not part of the curriculum. As a result, when they graduate, they often feel lost.
The purpose of this Death Café is to create a safe, open space to break the taboo surrounding death, allowing students to share in small groups how they feel, how the death of a loved one has affected them, how these experiences might influence their professional lives, or simply anything they wish to express freely.
Coffee and pastries will be offered free of charge by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Student Council.
About Pilar Muñoz Rascón
Professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Córdoba. In 2020, I organized the "Virtual Animal Grief Summit". I am the author of three books about death: "Infinity Life" and "The death of our Parents", both self-published on Amazon, and "Palliative care, euthanasia and grief in Veterinary Practice", published by Multimédica. I consider myself a lover of life and firmly believe that talking about death helps us become more aware that we are alive.
