Just your name or nickname is enough (we do not collect your addresses).
"Death Cafe is an informal gathering where, over a cup of tea and cake, we create a safe space for open conversations. Death, though natural, often remains a taboo subject. We want to change this by sharing experiences, reflections, and feelings in an atmosphere of respect and acceptance."
The idea behind Death Cafe (inspired by the movement described on deathcafe.com):
Open to all – anyone can join.
Without an agenda or rigid framework – you set the direction for the conversation.
No taboos – we talk honestly about what's important.
Not therapy or a support group – this is a space for dialogue, not treatment.
This is the first meeting of its kind at Czajownia, whose intimate atmosphere fosters reflective conversations. We don't impose topics or views—we focus on listening to each other and being there for each other. Talking about death helps not only to manage fear but also to appreciate the value of life and feel that we are not alone.
Please note: The Death Cafe is not a therapy or support group. We do not recommend participation for those in crisis or recently grieving.

About Adam Hałaczkiewicz, Katarzyna Janik, Jurek Skowron

- Adam Hałaczkiewicz

A psychologist and psychotherapist, he supports Death Cafe because he believes people deserve better access to education about death and grief – conversations over coffee and cake can be the first step toward overcoming the fear of death.

- Katarzyna Janik

A graduate of journalism and art history from the Jagiellonian University, she is an enthusiast of life, appreciating the complexity of every aspect. She actively supports the organization of Death Cafe events. She believes that dialogue about life and death allows us to better understand them, acquire tools for coping, and build greater empathy for others by accompanying them on their daily journey.

- Jurek Skowron

A Krakow immigrant (from Lower Silesia). He regularly attends online Death Cafe meetings and is convinced that Krakow needs a space for good conversations about death (and therefore about good life).
