About this Death Cafe
Death cafes are part of a global movement “To increase awareness of death with a view of helping people make the most of our (finite) lives.” We gather in a safe, relaxed setting to discuss death, celebrate life and enjoy food, tea (or coffee) and time together. This Death Cafe is open to and welcomes the community. This is not a grief support group or educational seminar - just a chance to talk about death in an effort to enhance life...and, of course, to eat cake. Refreshments are sold by Panera. Come join us in bringing death out of the closet. Please RSVP as spaces are limited.
About Gail Wodkiewicz and Stephen Sciannamea
Gail Wodkiewicz is an End-of-Life Partner and Advocate, Death Doula and Spiritual Guide. She has extensively studied death and dying in varying modalities. She graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in psychology and holds a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling. Gail is an ordained interfaith minister and celebrant, and has facilitated community-based bereavement support groups. Gail's experience as a patient advocate at a community nursing home, hospice volunteer, and assisting others to die with dignity has helped shape her journey leading her to this current path. Stephen Sciannamea is a recently retired stationary engineer, who received his B.A. in American Studies. Stephen holds a deep interest in questions about death, what happens after we die, and the transition of energies.
