Death Cafe is a global initiative where people (often strangers) gather to eat cake, drink tea and talk about death.
The purpose of these meetings is to raise awareness about death to help people come to terms with the finitude of life in a safe and non-judgmental space without taboos.
Death Cafe is not a lecture, but a free-form discussion—without a strict agenda, goal, or imposed topic. After a brief introduction, the meeting coordinators will invite participants to actively participate in the conversation.
ATTENTION:
- The Death Cafe is not a therapy or support group. Participation is not recommended for those in crisis or recent grief.
- To participate in the meeting, access to a microphone and camera is required.
- The meeting WILL NOT be recorded!
- Space is limited! Please register only if you are committed to the event. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Death Cafe will be hosted by members of the Funerarium Foundation:
About Fundacja Funerarium
ADRIANNA NOWICKA – A journalist and mediator who isn't afraid to discuss difficult, often silent topics. She helps people come to terms with death on a daily basis on her podcast, "Coffee With Death." When she's not behind the microphone, she combines two worlds: that of a librarian and that of a journalism teacher. Taught by her experience working in a funeral home and her interest in suicidology, she knows the importance of an individualized approach. Privately, she's passionate about nonfiction about serial killers and good coffee.
AGATA WIŚNIEWSKA – A cosmetology graduate, she now pursues her career as a forensic pathologist. Her childhood dream was to become a forensic pathologist, and she is currently pursuing this goal as an active member of the Forensic Medicine Student Research Club at the Medical University of Lodz. In 2024, she delivered a lecture entitled "At an Open Coffin," which explored the topic of preparing the body for burial. She works in a funeral home. In her free time, she writes articles on cosmetology and reads books about death. During her undergraduate studies, she participated in numerous scientific conferences, presenting papers on androgenic alopecia in women. She wrote the article "Anthocyanins from a chemical, cosmetic, and dietary perspective." She served as the student head and president of the Student Research Club. She assisted with numerous events organized by the Medical College in Płock, representing the Cosmetology program. She regularly participates in autopsies. This year, she organized a discussion meeting called "Let's Talk About Death Over Tea" for medical students.
