Death Cafe Blue Mountains is running in conjunction with Dying to Know Day - August 8.

D2KDay is an annual day of action in australia dedicated to bringing to life conversations and community actions around death, dying and bereavement.

About Hayley West & Gareth Thomas

HAYLEY WEST: My art practice directly relates to a lived awareness of death and memorial. I work with soft sculptural forms, video, performance and installation. I am currently a Masters by Research candidate with an Australian Post-Graduate Award (APA) scholarship, and am also involved in the Green Burial movement in the Blue Mountains.

GARETH THOMAS: As a poet and visual artist I am interested in how we make sense of death, mortality and bereavement from the context of nature-based spirituality. I am also currently training to be a social worker (MSW) and have an interest in complicated grief in adolescence/early adulthood. I would like to develop community projects that support young people who have lost someone they love.
