About this Death Cafe
In my nursing career, I have worked in palliative care and spent many years in the emergency department, where I have confronted death, grief, and loss in its many forms. In 2015 I faced my own profound loss when my partner died from a brain tumour, a moment that left me feeling utterly adrift. All those experiences inspired me to become a Death Doula all while continuing to nurture my nursing practice. I learned how crucial it is to offer compassionate support during those intensely emotional times.
This is why I started the Death Café in Bakers Hill: to give back to the community by creating a space where people can openly talk about dying, death, loss, and grief. My goal is to help others navigate these experiences with dignity, understanding, and connection, and to remind us all that we don’t have to face these moments alone.
