About this Death Cafe
I abhor the ignorance that surrounds the subject of death. It saddens me to see how many people live in denial and die before they can ask the questions that weigh them down - the fear that keeps people from living life. For this reason I am advocate for acquainting oneself with death in the prime of one's life in the hope of alleviating the suffering that occurs at the end of one's life. I consider it more than an honor to be part of this grandios revolution.
The DC will take place in a public library. The automatic coffee machine in the study and the spacious, light-flooded rooms make this location particularly attractive. I will bake the cake and sweets that I will have on offer. I will also offer Death Café in English, which will appeal to a diverse audience. I would consider the library directer my sponsor since they've offered to do the advertising and provide the coffee. The Death Cafe is free for all attendees. Information, Books and assistance services, e.g. www.deathcafe.com will be on site.
About Lynnette Schöller
I am a bereavement and bereavement councillor and have been accompanying death and dying for nearly 16 years - privately and professionally. I have grown a volume since. My daughter's death in 2008 was my first teacher who taught me that the fear of death arises in the mind, generated by fantasies and barely proven facts. The deaths of my parents and several relatives in 2020 taught me lessons I would never have learned in a classroom. It taught me that in order to live we must embrace death because it is not the enemy. That I have done since 2014 when I joined a nonprofit organization that addresses the needs of children and families affected by childhood cancer. I learned a long time ago that we deal with death in fear and dont live until its too lat. Writing wills with children at the end of life has taught me to take life with both hands and to value life. And it also taught me that enhancing dignity at the end of life alleviates fear and pain.
