About this Death Cafe

The event basically looks like this:

1. You turn up at the venue for 7pm

2. You have a coffee and a slice of cake if you want.

3. You get to meet the other people attending that evening.

4. You get to talk in a safe, cosy, relaxed environment about mortality, life, death... what ever floats your boat or interests you.

5. You leave... knowing you probably just made a few friends!!

About Pat, Geof and Naomi

This meeting is dedicated to our friend Hilary Botwright, who died on the 5th May 2015.

Pat Brooks is going to facilitate our May meeting. This will be our sixth event. Due to so much interest we seem able to continue with monthly meetings.

Geof is a local writer, teacher, and long standing member of the Quaker movement. A dynamic and commited person, Geof gets things happening. He has facilitated two events so far and held the groups together very skillfully.

Liz is a retired social worker and has a LOT of experience in palliative care. She is involved in many community projects and we are lucky to have her valuable input with this event.

Pat is a local counsellor/psychotherapist/Qi Gong teacher. This will be her second event facilitating. Her calm and open manner encourages people to look at the subject matter deeply. An avid reader, Pat has summarised some interesting books on death and dying. She also opens up the venue and closes on time.

Sue is a retired social worker and has been involved in dealing with many families and their health and social needs. Sue is a naturally bubbly person with a down to earth manner. She brings a strong common sense approach to considering death and dying.
