About this Death Cafe

Enjoy coffee and cookies as we talk about death in our respective cultures, communities and lives.

We recognize that being at the portal of life Is a transformational moment, whether it happens at birth or death and these moments should be talked about candidly. Please be advised that this is not a grief support or grief counseling session, rather an authentic group conversation. Participants are not required to share their personal stories but are encouraged to engage in dialogue.

About Amiyah King

Amiyah is a proud Buffalo native and alumna of Howard University and Buffalo State University. Amiyah is a certified Life Coach, Mindful Meditation Instructor, Trauma-Informed Caregiver, Death Doula, Funeral Celebrant(in progress) and wellness practitioner. She is deeply rooted in values relating to culture, spirituality and restoration. Amiyah is an informed traveler and researcher who has studied themes of mindfulness, cultural competence, trauma-informed care, and community restoration in her academic career and volunteerism all over the world. She believes in the transformative powers of land healing and ancestral practice for addressing past traumas for future success.
