About this Death Cafe

So we had the last Death Cafe on November 11th and we had a good turnout for that. Like usual a lot of interesting conversations.

Everything from meditation for people who are in recovery and then it went on to something different. We started talking about getting back to "normal" which people say when they have children or other life changing experiences." oh I can't wait to get back to normal"  but we forget that's now is the New Normal so sometimes you can't get back to the old ways.

So I suppose from this it is important to accept what is happening in one's life right now.

Bithántaíocht. was another term that came up where we get to visit other people's houses for past time and for gossip.

Then I got on to tiger and the Tao of Pooh.written by Benjamin Hoff which is an introduction to the Eastern belief system of Taoism for westerners.

We were then on a roll and we started talking about the movie the disappearance of Willy Bingham and the whole idea of an eye for an eye - vengeance and revenge. The machine kills fascism was a new term in me.  Kevin was in his element now and we got talking about Kenshõ  translated as being and seeing one's true nature or the Buddha nature ie. nature of the mind. Selfless insights by James Austin was a book mentioned. .We explored about being hurt when someone else is diagnosed with a disease.  So for example how hurt do I get when my loved ones have a series illness.

We then got talking about the expressions "mind yourself"and " be safe" which really are a diluting of our everyday experiences where we tend to err on being safe and not living our lives as spontaneously as we should.

These dead cafes do of course have a death theme in them,  but we are really just having fun discussing how we can enjoy ourselves more and be true to ourselves.

The next debt cafe will  be on  Friday Feb  2nd  2024. They usually take place on Friday evenings at 7pm.
