About this Death Cafe

Harula Murakami wrote"Death is not the opposite of life but a part of it."

Martha and Gil want to run a Death Cafe because that quote resonates with them. Additionally, they both recently completed End-of-Life-Doula trainings. They believe that it is important to provide an opportunity to support people in normalizing talk about death which is such an important part of life.

About Gil Janssen and Martha Badger

Martha Badger lives and works in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She recently completed her End-of-Life Doula Training through The Dying Year. Martha has been a registered nurse for 30+ years and a Reiki Master for 20 years. Martha hopes to raise community awareness about the role of the End-of-Life Doula and the importance of advance care planning. Martha also feels called to spread the word about sustainable, meaningful options that are available to all of us regarding end-of-life ceremony and ritual.

Gil-Marie Janssen lives in Cedarburg,Wisconsin. She is a retired School Counselor and currently works part-time at a local food pantry. Gil completed two different End-of-Life Doula trainings over the last five years. Gil is eager to support people with end-of-life planning, in discussion, and in other ways so that the mystery of life continues.
