About this Death Cafe
We are grateful for receiving a Community Action Grant.
This will allow us to run two, monthly death cafes.
One on the second Thursday of every month in North Library and one on the last Wednesday of every month in the Crown Buildings.
About Gemma Towle and Lynda Kenny
Lynda Kenny is a retired palliative care nurse and vicar, who is now a celebrant and advocates for the benefits of talking about death.
Gemma Towle is a business management student, who is passionate about coaching and discussing death and dying.
We met on an End Of Life Doula UK course, where we were both training to become End Of Life Doula’s. This means we are trained to hold space for people who are dying and help them create it, as they hope for it to be. Be this in the advance planning stage, or being with them for their last breath.
Both of us recognised that palliative care decision-making only comes for most people, at the very end of life and that we could offer Bridlington a space to discuss death and dying, at any stage of their lives, allowing them to live fully.
