About this Death Cafe
I feel a call to facilitate a Death Cafe to hopefully bring community together and discuss this topic that is often seen as Taboo.
When we share and support each other in a safe, non judgemental space, there is room to grow, learn, explore and the opportunity to self reflect, with the hope of alleviating any concerns or concepts of death.
This will be a group directed discussion, with no agenda, or themes.
Just an opportunity to come together and talk all things death.
About Esmeralda Hope
My background is in Holistic Counselling and have worked in the Aged Care Sector for 14 years Case Manageing. Establishing and forming connections with clients and their families, with attention to their care needs was satisfying and rewarding, this also included the palliative care aspect.
I am currently working in the community sector with Carers WA, assisting Carers with building capacity to keep caring for their loved ones.
Having grown up in a nursing home, I was surrounded by death. I've also experienced loss on a personal level. Over the years i've witnessed the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to death. I can see that we are still not comfortable talking about it.
This needs to change.
I feel that if we talk about it more, it will lessen the taboo and........
The Death Cafe is a great place to start.
