About this Death Cafe

LJAC aims to present monthly Death Cafes in Altona on the last Saturday of each month, for six months, and then evaluate the series.

We have wonderful facilities at LJAC, including a kitchenette with oven, outdoor decking, garden and activity room overlooking the garden.

Our aim is to keep the format loose, and prefer the term "flow" to the way each Death Cafe will work. A gold coin donation will be requested of attendees, although not essential.

It is exciting to be getting this off the ground, as there have been no Death Cafe's in our region. I attended one many years ago, which left a lasting impression.

About Karen Ingram

Louis Joel Arts & Community (LJAC) is a not-for-profit neighbourhood house based in Melbourne's west, Altona, a bayside suburb. Our purpose is to provide a space for community members to meet and engage with the arts to improve wellbeing.

Karen Ingram is the manager of LJAC who is a community development professional passionate about mythbusting and connection over the "taboo" subject of death.  She will be supported by a rotating roster of co-facilitators to ensure safety and debriefing opportunities.
