About this Death Cafe

In line with the ethos of the original Death Cafe, Angelic Aurora's Death Cafe is a scheduled non-profit get-together for the purpose of talking about death over food and drink, usually tea and cake. The goal of these nonprofit groups is to educate and help others become more familiar with the end of life.

Join with us, Sam and Simone of Angelic Aurora, as we initiate those difficult and taboo conversations about death and dying, in the beautiful and peaceful space of the Bedford Spiritualist Church and Healing Centre.

Our objective is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'.

A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session.

Our Death Cafes are always offered:

- On a not for profit basis (we will never charge for these events)

- In an accessible, respectful and confidential space

- With no intention of leading people to any conclusion, product or course of action

- Alongside refreshing drinks and nourishing food – and cake!

You do not need to "buy" a ticket or let us know you're coming - just turn up and be welcome. There is no pressure to join in, you can just come and sit and watch.

The Bedford Spiritualist church, and these events, are safe, non-judgemental spaces where you can be heard and held.

About Angelic Aurora End of Life Charity Foundation

Angelic Aurora brings together Sam Lacey and Simone Mcpherson. Both are already skilled holistic therapists with their own individual successful businesses yield a great passion for what they do! A big part of their ethos is to give back to the community - to that end, they both have extensive experience volunteering in hospices and hospitals providing holistic complementary therapies as part of their palliative and end of life care treatments. However, they both felt that there was something more that they could do together! The hospices and related care workers do an amazing job, and Angelic Aurora aims to enhance this by bringing a little piece of relaxation and respite into the home, hospice, or hospital environment. Many people are not psychically able to leave their homes, and this is where Angelic Aurora can help, being mobile the opportunity of coming to the home, or where ever needed, to provide comfort, for the patients and carers.

Angelic Aurora aims to provide a positive effect on the spiritual, mental, and physical well-being of patients thus helping to improve the quality of life and, when necessary, quality of death. When a person is suffering from a progressive or terminal illness, it is likely their body will reach a point when it no longer responds to curative treatments. It is here Angelic Aurora steps in with its various approaches of complementary therapies that can help patients cope better with the prognosis - providing a sense of calm and relaxation while alleviating any fear and pain associated with the illness or treatment.
