About this Death Cafe
For this Death Café we have a particularly special venue. We are being hosted by The Coffin Works, Birmingham’s newest heritage attraction. Opened in October 2014, the restored Newman Brothers factory is a former coffin furniture manufactory giving us a taste of industrial life in Birmingham. The coffin fittings collection is both extensive and unique, contributing to our understanding of the changing attitudes to death and indeed life over a hundred-year period.
It’s a match made in heaven!
Attendance at Death Café is free, but spaces are limited. Please book in advance if you would like to attend. Email: deathcafebirmingham@gmail.com or via Eventbrite
We would heartily encourage you to book a tour of the Coffin Works while you are at the venue. On Sunday 11th there will be tours at 12pm or at 3pm allowing you to attend Death Café.
There is a lovely article about the tours in the Telegraph here:http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/destinations/europe/uk/centralengland/11256473/13-reasons-to-visit-the-Newman-Brothers-Coffin-Fittings-Museum.html
Tours are £5 and can be booked in advance by calling 0121 233 4790 or by email: newmanbrothers@coffinworks.org
