About this Death Cafe
The Thirsk Death Cafe had its inaugural event in November 2014 and it was agreed that we should continue on this adventure! The venue is warm and welcoming and the atmosphere relaxed. Death proved to be a huge subject!
WEATHER- we are certainly running the event, despite any snow. I personally find the Thirsk access roads seem to be quite well gritted. But if in doubt come to the next one! Much love, Naomi xx
It will be facilitated- on this next occasion- by Geof Sewell. The event is free but there is a suggested donation of £3. The last meeting was kindly sponsored by the Quakers (who waived the room hire costs) and by Jenny Lofthouse of Darrowby Cakes who sent in the stunning cake you see in the picture.
About Sue Laws and facilitated by Geof Sewell
Sue is a retired social worker and has lived in the Thirsk area for nearly eight years. A natural people person, she balances a busy home life with her volunteering roles. She finds people inherently interesting and in particular their different stories. "We are all heading to the same conclusion... death.... but from so many different experiences and I value that difference".
Geof will be facilitating the next meeting. He was a teacher, Deputy Head and Education Lecturer. He is now the Chair of the Thirsk PROBUS and a Quaker. He first heard about the Death Cafes when researching his e-novel (for details www.worldniagrainjeremyshaw.com)
