About Sarah Hillcoat

Brigid Haines

Brigid has been thinking a lot about death - and life - since recovering from cancer in 2012. She has researched and published on the representation of death and dying in Western culture. Since retiring from an academic position at Swansea University in 2019 she has trained as a Namings and Funeral celebrant, accredited with Humanists UK. She also leads wellbeing walks in Swansea and Gower.

Sarah Hillcoat

As an unpaid carer, Sarah has been supporting friends and family through dying and death for several years. With a career as a PhD researcher studying the social aspects of later life, she is now extending her experience by taking on the role of end-of-life Doula. As a member of End of Life Doula UK she is following the Doula training programme offered by the Living Well Dying Well network. She has also recently taken on the role of companion in the hospice setting. To keep balance and calm, Sarah has been studying and practising T'ai Chi and Qigong for several years.
