About this Death Cafe

Please join us for Death Cafe hosted by Alejandro & Careid, facilitators at Inner Sense Healing Arts Collective. This is a Zoom event so you can log in from the comfort of your own home! BYOCake, tea, coffee and/ or any other snacks you’d like.

In order to ensure an intimate environment for processing, this gathering has a maximum of 15 guests. To reserve your spot, please register through our website. A Zoom link will be emailed to you after registration (please check your junk mail, as it often ends up there). There is no cost associated with registration, but participants are invited to make a donation through our PayPal.

A Death Cafe is a group-directed open discussion about our thoughts, ideas, feelings surrounding death, and our own mortality. As this pandemic claims more lives each day, it is now more important than ever to begin to actively participate in our grief, both individually and collectively. We have not only lost members of our community but also jobs, a sense of normalcy, freedom of movement, and touch. Death Cafe is a safe space to vocalize what you've been processing and have virtual space be held for you.

Inner Sense Healing Arts is a non-profit organization. This is a free event but donations are welcome to continue supporting our efforts to provide beneficial programming now and into the future.

Careid Surprenant's (she/they) background was solely in the visual arts prior to completing her 200hr Yoga Teacher Traingin in 2013, and shortly thereafter, beginning to lead public yoga classes. She graduated from School of the Art Institue of Chicago where the majority of her work explored the themes of death and dying. She is currently a Chicago based yoga teacher, yoga teacher trainer, Death Cafe co-facilitator, and co-founder & board member of Inner Sense Healing Arts Collective. While she often jokes that she's a lapsed artist, she sees each of these practices as interconnected, highly creative and artistic works in and of themselves.
