About this Death Cafe
Kicking off our 3rd year!! Usually held in person, Death Cafe - Hillsborough has been meeting via Zoom for seven months now. Those who are on my email list will receive the invitation link 2-3 days beforehand. If you are not yet on my email list, you are welcome to join in! Please send a message with your FULL NAME and EMAIL address before 6pmEST Tuesday November 10th. We have use of a local church organization's Zoom account (yay) and thereby will send in a few bucks (from each of us) through their website or regular mail. I will provide that information during our meeting. Thank goodness we have the Zoom platform so we can still meet during these pandemic times ... the very times when death is even more important to talk about! Feel free to enjoy your favorite drink and eat supper during our virtual Death Cafe! Bring CAKE! See you there, mortals!
About Neidra L. Clark
Neidra L. Clark is an End Of Life Doula (EOLD) and an advocate for conscious dying. When she was 28 years old, her husband received a stage IV cancer diagnosis. That set of profound experiences provided firsthand knowledge which shaped her future and helped her discover a passion for helping people. Since 1996, Neidra has offered several natural healing modalities and means of self-empowerment for people desiring to better their health. She has served her communities by providing complimentary health research reports upon request, and continues to support others by volunteering services or offering them at reduced rates. Having been by the bedside of many dying individuals (including her own near-death experience at age 15), whether family, friend, or animal companion, Neidra feels she has a healthy perspective on death. It became clear that not everyone shares this outlook, or even talks much about death, so she sought means for people to have permission to express themselves. Enter: Death Cafe. Now as an End Of Life Doula, she supports the living as they die and their families through legacy creation, vigil planning, funeral preparations including home funerals (she is also an Ordained Celebrant), caregiver support, and early grief work. Resulting from her professional training, experiences with death and the dying, and attending area Death Cafes for nearly 3 years, Neidra believes that a Death Cafe is the perfect safe space to invite her community to come participate in enlightening conversations about death that inevitably lead many people to live their lives more fully. Death Cafe - Hillsborough was founded by Neidra in October 2018.
